I absolutely love Ana White. I have used her plans on several of my projects for our family as well as customers. She came up with a great building plan on a Kids Table which she calls the "Clara Table" (clickable link to Ana's plans) and a building plan for" Four dollar Stackable Chairs" (clickable link to Ana's plans). Her Plans are so easy and are super cost efficient!! If you follow Ana's plans to a T the whole set would cost you about $36.
Shanty 2 Chic a website that I also follow and love. (P.S. did you know they have their own HGTV show now called Open Concept) also followed Ana's plans. I am loving the red and wood combination. Shanty2chic made this table even cheaper by using furring strips which cost her under $30. I dont prefer furring strips because they are almost always bowed (bend in the wood) so you waste a lot of wood.
Our Client came to use to make her a special table for her 2 children for their playroom. My client was also my son's 5th grade teacher so it meant it had to be extra special because my son said so!! He said "Mom it's for Ms. Lauren you have to make sure you make it extra special". I had to make that happen!!
I was one proud mama here, I must say. The day my son tell's me "Mama I would love to help you finish my teacher's chairs", is the day I say Hip Hip Hooray. I love that he wanted to help and get involved. He was so intent and that tongue hung out the whole time making sure he got in all the nooks and crannies. Yes, he is using my husbands old sock. Easiest thing for small hands to use when staining.
As you can see we taped off sections. The sections taped off were going to be painted Coastal Blue (a navy blue) to match her playroom. Here is a quick tip always stain first when doing a combination of stain and painting. Why you ask? Because paint will cover any stain that may accidentally get on the taped part, but stain will not cover paint. Want to know how I know? Ummmm Been there done that got the T-shirt. Trust me after many years of doing this I have lots of tips and tricks to share with you.
All 4 chairs complete and ready for final reveal. I love how where we put wood filler in the screw holes it got darker. Gives it more of a rustic look.
Table complete and ready for final reveal. My favorite part is the slats across the top of the table. And oh those knots. They were strategically placed when we cut the wood and put the table top together.
Here is the finished project. His teacher (my client) was so happy with the table and chairs. The best part is the chairs are all stack-able. so when you need to vacuum or mop you can stack the chairs and place them on top of the table.
What color and product did we use?
2 very happy customers
Aren't they just the cutest things ever!!!
