Do you have a piece of furniture that you absolutely love or has been passed down in the family that from moving or just dropping something on top of it cause a dent?
One of my customers came to me and was in tears. She had just moved here to Louisiana all the way from Germany. The movers damaged her one of a kind German nightstand in the move. She had heard about me from one of my wonderful past clients. Referrals are about 80% of my business. When you give great customer service and quality work the referrals will come. As a side note it is always a great policy to give your clients a few business cards and say that the best form of flattery is a referral from you.
This is not a hard task and you might think there is no hope to get rid of that god awful dent you have in your favorite piece of furniture. But, let me assure you that it can be fixed if it is solid wood. (disclaimer this will not work on laminate or pressed wood furniture). If you can handle and iron then you can do this simple repair and not all hope is lost. I have created a simple step by step formula that I will walk you through below in How to Remove a Dent from Wood. This occurs mostly when you have a soft wood but on rare occasion it can happen with hard wood as well.
Here are the supplies you will need
Phase 1: Steaming the wood
Phase 2: Sanding
Side note. If you find that the damage is not doing anything at all after a couple of attempts because it was previously varnished or waxed and the water is not penetrating that. Poke a few small holes with a sewing needle in the damaged area letting the water penetrate into the wood. And attempt it again.
Phase 3: Refinish as desired
I would love to hear your thoughts. Have you tried It show me a before and after pic in the comments below. Have a friend that you think might want to see this?
