But, We have put together some helpful tips and tricks that you can do to salvage your family heirlooms. The home above has been sitting flooded in water for over 3 days. However the homeowners still have a chance to save their wood furniture. Most upholstered furniture that has been sitting in stagnant water for that long will most likely be lost because the water is staying in the fabric and keeping moisture locked into the wood around. it.
Here are some examples of water damaged furniture. That we saved for our customers from being in up to 16 inches of water.
If at all possible before the flood gets too high prop what furniture you can on pots and pieces of cut 4x4 wood. wrap the legs in aluminum foil to help protect it from sitting directly in water.

The image below is of pressed wood. I am sorry to say but once pressed wood gets wet there is really no hope of saving it. if only some pieces of the furniture are pressed wood they may be replaced and still have a sturdy piece.
The main thing to keep in mind before staining, painting, refinishing can be done the piece has to be entirely dried properly or you will set in the moisture and cause molding underneath your finish. Causing even more problems down the road.
